A Day of Keeping Florida Cool: Life as an HVAC Service Tech

6:00 AM – Rise and Shine

The day begins early at Apex Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, as Florida’s heat waits for no one. I grab my diagnostic equipment and check my schedule for the day ahead in Winter Haven and Celebration.

7:30 AM – First Call

My first stop is a residential AC installation in Lakeland. Florida summers demand reliable cooling systems, and today we’re upgrading an older unit to a more energy-efficient model. The morning air is still cool enough to work comfortably in the attic.

10:00 AM – Emergency Service

A call comes in from Davenport – a family’s AC unit stopped working overnight. In Florida, this qualifies as an urgent situation, especially for homes with elderly residents or young children. These moments remind me why I chose this profession.

12:30 PM – Lunch Break

A quick stop in Four Corners for lunch, while I review the afternoon schedule. The dispatcher alerts me about two maintenance calls in Auburndale.

1:30 PM – Routine Maintenance

The afternoon involves:
– Filter replacements
– Condenser coil cleaning
– Refrigerant level checks
– Electrical connection testing

4:00 PM – Final Service Call

The day ends with a furnace inspection in Celebration. Even though Florida winters are mild, maintaining heating systems is crucial for those occasional cold snaps.

5:30 PM – Wrapping Up

Back at headquarters, I complete paperwork, restock my truck, and prepare for tomorrow. Another satisfying day of helping our communities stay comfortable through Florida’s challenging climate.

Being part of the Apex team means embracing the responsibility of keeping our neighbors comfortable year-round, whether it’s the scorching summer heat or those surprising winter chills.
